Learn how to properly use .925 sterling silver gallery wire and round wire to make this elegant pendant. Set an Austrian crystal square-cut, faceted, unfoiled, Tanzanite color, fancy stone into the finding you created. Learn how to make the “seat” on the underside, form the bail, and secure the top of the finding. You will also learn how to properly close the “prongs” to secure the stone in place.
The Wave Ring is the second part of this workshop. You will learn how to hand make the base of the ring with brass wire using two different diameters. You will also learn how to set an Austrian crystal rectangle chaton into a rectangle setting, then how to connect the set stone and finding onto the base ring.
Inspired by ethnic jewelry made of repeating coils of wire, you’ll create this brangle .
Learn to work different wire gauges of non-tarnish gold-plate and silver-plate into a nested wire cone design. Create with my Conetastic ™ tool and easily become familiar with the tool to shape the numerous cones. The large Hi-End Crystal focal bead is shouldered by freshwater pearls and ceramic spacers. You’ll love the colors and the textures in this design.
Is it a bangle or is it a bracelet? For a custom fit, the decision is yours. Make it as an endless bangle, or a bracelet with fabricated clasp, or a bracelet with the clasp and extension rings for a versatile fit.
The Jewelry Makers Retreat is the perfect environment for renowned DIY jewelry designer, Fernando Dasilva, to display another side of his chameleonic personality. His pliers are resting while he grabs spatulas to teach a cooking class.
Fernando wants to Brazilianize the world one day at a time.
Raised and born below the tropics in the sunny heart of Brazil, Fernando will teach two of the most popular Brazilian delights. Learn how to make ‘pão de queijo’ and ‘pavê de limão’. Pão de queijo is a cheesy Brazilian gluten-free roll that is eaten throughout the day in all regions of Brazil. Once you try this recipe, it is sure to be the favorite savory treat you offer to your family and friends.
The second recipe, a chilled dessert, is made with multiple layers of lady finger cookies and lemon juice.
Sharpen your knives and join Nando—you will leave his class in love with Brazilian cuisine.
Please note: This class is not a ‘hands on’ workshop. Fernando will cook for you and teach all the ins and outs you need to confidently make these recipes once you’re home. You will get to enjoy the deliciousness of these delicacies during the retreat and will head home with the recipes. Class cannot be recorded but you can take photos of all steps, as you desire.
